The skyline is visible from lots of places across the capital, from rooftop bars to penthouse apartments.

But where’s the best place to see it? A recent study has revealed the Greenwich Observatory and the Cloud Cable Car are the best places to view the London skyline.

With over 30 million visitors each year, the UK’s capital offers countless panoramic photo opportunities, but these viewpoints are particularly special.

From either vantage point, you can see the Thames winding through the city, with landmarks like St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard and Canary Wharf all in frame.

The Royal Observatory in Greenwich is the historic home of the Prime Meridian, where east meets west. It played a vital role in the history of astronomy and navigation, helping to establish Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

The IFS Cloud Cable Car, formerly known as the Emirates Air Line, is an aerial gondola that links Greenwich Peninsula with the Royal Docks, soaring up to 90 metres above the River Thames for approximately a 1.1 km journey.

The ride offers sweeping panoramic views of London landmarks such as The O2, Canary Wharf, the Isle of Dogs, and even glimpses of St Paul’s and the Olympic Park—now enhanced with a new glass‑floor experience for even more dramatic vistas.
