Banksy unveils eighth mystery artwork in southeast London

Banksy has unveiled yet another animal themed artwork in London, as the anonymous artist’s graffiti trail enters into its second week.

It shows a rhino mounting a silver Nissan Micra with a traffic cone on its hood to resemble a fellow rhinoceros.

It appeared on Westmoor Street, Charlton on Monday August 12, with the artist claiming it on his Instagram account.

This is the Bristol-based artist’s eight artwork to be unveiled in the capital, which began in Richmond last Monday (August 5).

The artist’s graffiti campaign has fuelled speculation online about the meaning behind the pieces.

The first artwork appeared near Kew Bridge last Monday morning in the form of a goat silhouette with rocks falling down.

On Tuesday two elephants appeared on Edith Terrace, Chelsea, while the following day three monkeys seemingly swinging popped up on a railway bridge in Brick Lane, east London.

On Thursday Banksy posted a picture on Instagram of a silhouette of a wolf howling at the moon on a satellite dish in Rye Lane, Peckham, south London.

But within hours the dish was removed and taken away from the scene.

Two pelicans eating fish were spotted atop the sign of Bonners Fish Bar in Walthamstow on Friday morning.

A black cat was then spotted stretching on a dilapidated billboard, overgrown with leaves, on Saturday before contractors were seen removing it.

On Sunday a City of London police box on Ludgate Hill had been covered with fish.
