Taverna Trastevere: The Clapham restaurant serving London's 'most hyped carbonara'

When it comes to fine Italian dining, Clapham might not be the first place that springs to mind.

But if you believe the internet, it is in fact home to the ‘most hyped’ carbonara in London.

Taverna Trastevere is revered for its homestyle Roman dishes and rustic décor.

The traditional restaurant has found itself as the subject of many viral videos lately, with London foodies flocking there to try its authentic cuisine.

Menu highlights include arancini, croquettes, and fried pasta parcels.

But it’s the now-famous carbonara that has people coming back time and time again.

Thick pasta noodles coated in a velvety carbonara sauce with crispy and chewy morsels of guanciale - it’s easy to see why the dish has become such a hit.

Online reviewers and influencers have described this dish as “rich, flavourful, and the best carbonara outside of Italy’.
