We’ve seen both records and hearts broken by Taylor Swift (through her relationship with Travis Kelce - no other reason), RAYE reign supreme at the biggest music awards ceremony in the United Kingdom and some of us were licking our favourite Spice Girl - by virtue of a series of stamps created bearing their visages.
So what from the world of music throughout the past 12 months caught our attention and, more importantly, remained in our heads rent free right up to the moment you’re reading this?

9. September
The world was shocked as rock music's "Mr Nice Guy," Dave Grohl, admits to having fathered a child outside of his marriage in a social media statement. Meanwhile, the music world mourned the loss of two iconic figures: Tito Jackson, the 70-year-old R&B and blues singer-songwriter and guitarist from The Jackson 5, passed away, as well as country music legend Kris Kristofferson, who died at the age of 88. | Getty Images

10. October 2024
On 16 October, the tragic death of Liam Payne, former One Direction member, shocked the music world. His funeral a month later brought the remaining members of the band together for the first time in years, sparking hope for a future reunion. 11. November
In November 2024, music lost a legend with the passing of Quincy Jones at the age of 91. Meanwhile, Linkin Park released From Zero, marking their first album in seven years, featuring Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara and drummer Colin Brittain. This new chapter came after Chester Bennington's death and Rob Bourdon’s departure.
