I have been a digital reporter at the Yorkshire Evening Post since April 2023, covering breaking news, crime and all things that make Leeds the vibrant city it is. On a given day, I could be reporting on a big event in the community, a police incident, or I could be busy finding out what you love about the city and why. I also have a focus on health coverage, whether it's personal stories or changes to key services in the city. After completing a degree in journalism at the University of Kent in 2018, I took on my first job in the industry at the Congleton Chronicle. During my four years at the 130-year-old Cheshire newspaper, I covered court cases, inquests and council meetings, interviewed fascinating people including Baroness Brenda Hale of Richmond and author Alan Garner, and wrote features on quirky subjects like the region's time-honoured gooseberry growing competitions. Meanwhile, shifts at a national newspaper gave me an insight into breaking stories that appealed to people across the country. I'm passionate about the arts, so I love checking out exciting new exhibitions in the city and seeing new theatre, which is something I hope to explore with the Yorkshire Evening Post. I always want to hear more about people's passion for Leeds and cover the issues that matter to the city's diverse and vibrant communities.
