Arsenal set ‘clear transfer stance’ as ‘target’ taken off the table despite collapsed deal

Arsenal are now preparing for an all-London clash with Crystal Palace as they look to make it two from two.

The Gunners defeated Nottingham Forest in their season-opener, but the win came with a cost, with new signing Jurrien Timber suffering an injury that will keep him out for months. Mikel Arteta and Edu will now be assessing whether they need to replace Timber, while the club will also look to offload a number of players who are not likely to make the cut.

Partey stance

Arsenal are said to have made their transfer stance clear in relation to Thomas Partey.

Partey was the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia and beyond early in the transfer window, and there is now reportedly interest from Turkey. Early in the window, the Gunners were said to be willing to sell if a credible offer came in, but according to the Express, Partey is an important part of Arteta’s plans, and he will not be sold during this window.

Partey filled in at full-back last weekend, and he may need to do more of that after Jurrien Timber’s injury.

Pavard latest

There is some good news and bad news over reported Arsenal target Benjamin Pavard.

Pavard was set to join Inter Milan after extensive talks, but the deal is now said to be off. The Bayern Munich has been linked with Arsenal after the injury suffered by Timber, but the bad news is that it now looks as though Pavard will stick around.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg tweeted: “Excl. News #Pavard: FC Bayern has decided that he will stay! Deal with @Inter is off! @SkySportDE.” Pavard was seeimingly one of few top quality centre-backs who could have been available.
