Dorothy Wolff will turn 102 on September 16, and her family and staff at Atfield House are organising an exhibition of her paintings later this month.

The exhibition will take place at the care home on September 26, with visitors able to view and buy some of Dorothy's work. Proceeds will be donated to UNICEF, a charity she has supported for many years.

Born and raised in the Hounslow area, Dorothy has painted throughout her life, working in a variety of media but developing a particular passion for watercolours.

Her subjects have ranged from people to landscapes and other scenes, and she took up painting more seriously after retiring from Surrey County Council, where she worked as an architectural technician.

Her son, Michael Wolff, said his mother had always taken her painting seriously.

“Mum has always been a good amateur painter,” he said. “She took Arts A level after her retirement and achieved an A-star grade.

“Her education and opportunities had been severely disrupted by the war.

“She thoroughly enjoyed putting brush and pen to paper, and was quite prolific and wide-ranging in her subject matter. Many people have enjoyed buying her work in the past.”

Isaac Soliman, general manager at Atfield House, said the exhibition would give local people an opportunity to celebrate Dorothy's birthday with her.

“Dorothy is a talented painter, she has lived a fascinating life and we wanted to celebrate her reaching this great age of 102 and share her paintings,” he said.

“It means the world to Dorothy and her family to share her works, and we would love members of the local community to come to Atfield House and meet her on September 26, view her paintings and perhaps purchase one of her pieces, with the proceeds going to UNICEF.”

The exhibition will be held at Atfield House in Isleworth on Saturday, September 26.
