Good news as food hygiene ratings handed to 12 Tower Hamlets establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 12 of Tower Hamlets’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to eight restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Cooking Pot Cafe at 28 Ellesmere Street, London; rated on June 19

• Rated 5: Birleys Baguette Kiosk at Kiosk 2 Promenade Level, Canada Place, London; rated on June 16

• Rated 5: Pret A Manger & Veggie Pret at Unit 1 Canada Place, 38 Canada Square, London; rated on June 16

• Rated 5: Barge East Ltd at Sweetwater Trade Mooring Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, White Post Lane, London; rated on June 15

• Rated 5: Brawn at 49 Columbia Road, London; rated on June 15

• Rated 5: Lily Vanilli Ltd at Unit 6 The Courtyard, Ezra Street, London; rated on June 15

• Rated 5: Papa John's Pizza at 255-259 East India Dock Road, London; rated on June 12

• Rated 5: Perfect Fried Chicken at 197 East India Dock Road, London; rated on June 12
