Good news as food hygiene ratings awarded to 11 Southwark establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 11 of Southwark’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to eight restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Fine cut butchers at 51, Blue Anchor Lane, London; rated on May 31

• Rated 5: Roast at Roast At The Floral Hall Boro, 8, Southwark Street, London; rated on May 31

• Rated 5: Franco manca at 21, Lordship Lane, London; rated on May 26

• Rated 5: Andanza at 66, Weston Street, London; rated on May 25

• Rated 5: Frankie & benny's at 4, Teredo Street, London; rated on May 24

• Rated 5: Pizza hut restaurant at 5, Teredo Street, London; rated on May 24

• Rated 5: The flygerians at Unit 14 Peckham Palms Arcade, Bournemouth Close, London; rated on May 24

• Rated 5: Five guys at 2b, More London Riverside; rated on May 18

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And two ratings have been handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:

• Rated 5: Redwood sports pub & kitchen at London Bridge Station, London Bridge Street, London; rated on May 24

• Rated 5: The tapas room at 119, Peckham High Street, London; rated on May 20
