The Care Quality Commission is in charge of inspecting social care services across England. The organisation judges care providers across various metrics – with the best possible rating being 'outstanding', and the worst 'inadequate'.

Information from the CQC reveals two services in Merton have received ratings from the start of October.

Kew House Care Home was awarded an 'outstanding' rating after an inspection on June 1. The rating was published on October 6.

On October 21, Keychange Charity Alexander House Care Home was judged to be 'good'. The care home had last been inspected on September 15.

A service will be judged 'outstanding' if it performs exceptionally well against the CQC's standards – but a 'good' score also means it is meeting expectations.

On the other hand, a 'requires improvement' rating means the organisation is not up to scratch. A rating of 'inadequate' – the lowest possible score – will normally result in it being placed in special measures, and further checks being carried out.
