Good news as food hygiene ratings awarded to nine Kensington and Chelsea restaurants

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to nine of Kensington and Chelsea’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

The following ratings have been given to nine restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Fait Maison at 144-146 Gloucester Road, London; rated on February 21

• Rated 5: Steak & Co at 152 Gloucester Road, London; rated on February 20

• Rated 5: Gail's at 138 Portobello Road, London; rated on February 19

• Rated 5: Fait Maison at 50 Gloucester Road, London; rated on February 14

• Rated 5: Harry's Dolce Vita at 27-31 Basil Street, London; rated on February 14

• Rated 5: Mezcalito Brompton at 158 Old Brompton Road, London; rated on February 14

• Rated 5: San Pietro at 7 Stratford Road, London; rated on February 13

• Rated 5: Beaverbrook Townhouse at 115-116 Sloane Street, London; rated on February 9

• Rated 5: Pizza Express at 152 King'S Road, London; rated on February 8

It means that of Kensington and Chelsea's 882 similar establishments with ratings, 762 (86%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
