Hillingdon road closures: a dozen for motorists to avoid this week

Hillingdon's motorists will have 12 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But drivers will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 9pm May 21 to 5am May 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound, junction 2 to junction 1, Lane closures for maintenance work.

• M25, from 9pm May 21 to 5am May 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M25 clockwise to M40 southbound, Lane closures on link road for maintenance work.

• M40, from 9pm May 20 to 5am June 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): TEST.

• M40, from 9pm May 20 to 5am June 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): TEST.

• M25, from 3pm December 15 2022 to 3pm December 15 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M25 clockwise, junction 15, Hard shoulder closure for CAT 1 embankment erosion.

And a further seven closures will begin over the next seven days:

• M4, from 10pm May 22 to 5am May 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 3 to junction 4, mobile lane closure for Met Police to calibrate HADECS safety cameras.

• M4, from 10pm May 22 to 5.30am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 westbound, junction 4b to junction 5, Lane closure for M4 Smart Motorway.

• M40, from 10pm May 23 to 5am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound,, junction 1 to junction 1a, Lane closure for maintenance work.

• M40, from 10pm May 23 to 5am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 southbound,,junction 1a to junction 1, Lane closure for maintenance work.

• A40, from 10pm May 23 to 5am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A40 northbound to M40 northbound, junction 1, Lane closure for maintenance work.

• A40, from 10pm May 24 to 6am May 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M40 northbound, junction 1 to junction 1a, Lane closure for maintenance works.

• M4, from 10pm June 5 to 5am June 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M4 eastbound, junction 4 to junction 3, Lane and link road closure for survey works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
