Good news as food hygiene ratings awarded to nine Hackney establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to nine of Hackney’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to eight restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Hoxton Beach at London Fields Lido London Fields Park, London Fields West Side, Hackney, London; rated on May 18

• Rated 5: The Ivy Street Centre at 54 Ivy Street, Hackney, London; rated on May 18

• Rated 5: Minik Kardes Children's Centre at 53-55 Balls Pond Road, Hackney, London; rated on April 28

• Rated 5: Island Poke at 42 Great Eastern Street, Hackney, London; rated on April 21

• Rated 5: Kiln Cafe at Brickfields Business Centre, 37 Cremer Street, Hackney, London; rated on April 19

• Rated 5: Bobo & Wild at Cafe At Gainsborough Studio South, 1poole Street, Hackney, London; rated on April 18

• Rated 5: Capitan Tortilla Ltd at 32 Kingsland Road, Hackney, London; rated on April 18
