GP Rankings: The top 10 GP practices in south east London

The annual survey saw around 760,000 patients complete a questionnaire asking about their experiences with the local GP surgery.

The NHS England figures showed overall satisfaction in GPs across England fell to its lowest level since the survey began in 2018, with 71.3% of patients rating the service as "good" or "very good" in 2023 – down from 72.4% in 2022.

But where are the highest-rated GP practices in south east London?

We ranked the top 10 in the area by the percentage of people who rated the service as good or very good, excluding those with fewer than 100 responses.

1. The Villa Street Medical Centre

Of the 117 people who responded to the GP survey, 92.8% described their overall experience of the Villa Street Medical Centre as "good" or "very good".

Some 60.5% said the practice was very good, while 32.3% said it was good. No one described the service as poor, but 3% said it was very poor.

2. Ingleton Avenue Surgery

Coming in second was Ingleton Avenue Surgery, where 71.5% of 202 people said their experience at the practice was very good, and 20.4% described it as good.

It meant the practice was rated at least good by 91.9% of patients, making it the second-highest rated practice in south east London.

Meanwhile, 3.5% described the service as poor or very poor.

3. Elm Lodge Surgery

Elm Lodge Surgery came in third with a score of 91.8%.

Some 64% of patients at the practice rated the service as very good, while a further 27.8% believed it was just good.

Meanwhile, 1.4% described the service as poor, but no one said it was very poor.

4. Lee Road Surgery

Coming in just outside the top three was Lee Road Surgery, which 91.7% of 116 patients rated as good or very good.

The practice was rated very good by 55.2% of patients, and good by 36.5%.

However, 2.7% of patients thought the service was poor, with a further 0.6% describing it as very poor.

5. The Exchange Surgery

Rounding out the top five GP practices in south east London was the Exchange Surgery.

Of the 113 patients who responded to the GP survey, 91.1% said their experience at the practice was either good or very good.

This included 60.8% saying the practice was "very good", the highest grade on the survey.

6. Sundridge Medical Centre

With 91% of 126 patients grading the practice as good or very good, Sundridge Medical Centre ranked sixth in south east London.

At the other end of the scale, just 6.8% said their overall experience was poor or very poor.

7. Oakview Family Practice

At seventh place in the rankings was Oakview Family Practice.

Patients' experience at the practice was rated as good or very good by 90.5% of the 101 respondents to the GP survey.

Of those, 59.8% rated it as very good.

8. St James' Practice

St James' Practice lands at eighth in south east London.

This is thanks to 89.2% of patients at the practice describing their overall experience there as good or very good.

Of them, 48.8% said the service was very good, while 40.5% described it as good.

9. Eden Park Surgery

Coming it at ninth in the rankings is Eden Park Surgery.

Some 88.9% of the 114 patients who responded to the GP survey graded its service as good or very good.

At the other end of the scale, no one said their experience at the practice was very poor.

10. Manor Road Surgery

Rounding out the top 10 GP practices in south east London is Manor Road Surgery, which was graded good or very good by 88.5% of patients who responded to the GP survey.

However, no one rated the service as very poor, the lowest possible grade.
