Everything you need to know about four weeks of Christmas and New Year bins disruption for Ealing
Bin collections in Ealing will be slightly different over the festive season as crews follow a special timetable. The disruption to collection schedules will last until Monday, January 19.
Collections scheduled right up until Christmas Eve will remain the same. If your rubbish is due to be collected on Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25), then your new collection date will be Monday, December 29.
If your collection day is Boxing Day, which falls on a Friday, then your new collection date will be Tuesday, December 30. All collections for Monday, December 29, will also be delayed, until Wednesday, December 31.

Scheduled collections for Tuesday, December 30, will face a three-day delay, instead being collected on Friday, January 2. All collections planned for New Year’s Eve, which falls on a Wednesday, will now be collected on Saturday, January 3.
New Year’s Day falls on a Thursday next year, and as it is a bank holiday, no collections will take place. Any scheduled for New Year’s Day will be collected five days later on Monday, January 5.
Any collections supposed to take place on Friday, January 2, will now be collected on Tuesday, January 6. Those due for collection on Monday, January 5, will be collected on Wednesday, January 7.
Collections for the rest of the week commencing January 5 will be collected two days later than usual. The following week will face the last round of delays, with all collections from Monday, January 12, facing a delay of only one day.
Collections return to normal on Monday, January 19. Ealing Council is also offering a free Christmas tree disposal service.
Between Monday, January 5, and Friday, January 23, those who use the black and blue wheeled bins can leave their real trees on the front edge of their property for collection.
Trees will be collected on the same day as your revised rubbish collection (black bin) each alternate week. Tree trunks must not exceed 20cm in diameter, or be more than six feet tall (taller trees can be cut in two).
Ealing Council has asked residents to ensure all decorations are removed. If you live in a flat or use a communal bin service you will have to take your real tree to one of the council’s parks or open spaces. This runs until Friday, January 23.
