And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that five closures are due to start this week:

M1, from 10pm May 23 to 5am May 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 northbound, junction 4 entry slip road, Lane closures for fence works.

A1, from 10pm May 23 to 5am May 24, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound, junction Borehamwood to junction 1, entry slip road closure for Cat1 boundary fence repairs, diversion via TFL roads.

M1, from 10pm May 23 to 5am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 southbound, junction 5 to junction London Gateway Services, Lane closures for safety fence works.

M1, from 10pm June 6 to 5am June 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1, junction 3 to junction 1 southbound, Lane closure for center reservation drainage works.

A1, from 10pm June 6 to 6am June 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M1 northbound, junction 1 to junction 5, carriageway and entry slip road closures for surfacing works, diversion via local authority roads.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
