Wetherspoons are set to slash prices across their almost 100 London pubs for one day this week. On Thursday (September 14), the pub and chain will reduce the price across its drink and food menu.

In honour of Tax Equality Day, the pub and restaurant chain will lower the prices of their pints and grub by 7.5 per cent to highlight the Value Added Tax (VAT) differences between supermarkets and pubs.

As explained on the Wetherspoons website, the one-day-only cut in prices highlights "the benefit of a permanent VAT reduction in the hospitality industry."

Those curious to know how much their regular order would be on Thursday can check on a specially created calculator on the chain’s site, which shows what the total would be 7.5 per cent less. For example, if you spent £5, you would save 37p with the lowered price.

There are currently 88 of the chain’s pubs and restaurants open across the capital, as per Wetherspoons London page. Londoners can find their local spot using the chain’s pub and restaurant locator.
