For more than 10 years, a re-enactment of Jesus’ last day has been performed in Trafalgar Square, drawing crowds of thousands.

Thousands of spectators took to Trafalgar Square on Good Friday (April 7) to witness the mass re-enactment of Jesus’ last day by Wintershall.

Now running for more than 10 years, the performance, of which there were two over the afternoon, featured a cast of more than 100, plus horses, donkeys and doves.

Featuring key moments including the Last Supper, Jesus’ crucifixion and his subsequent rise from the dead, Wintershall’s re-enactment is a grizzly and consuming showing.

On a warm and sunny Good Friday afternoon, it was an enraptured crowd which gathered to watch, many of whom broke out into clapping and cheering upon Jesus coming back from the dead towards the show’s end.

For those who were unable to attend, we have collated a series of images from the earlier performance to hopefully convey some of the scale of this mass annual event.
