Here’s everything runners taking part in the 2023 Big Half this weekend need to know.

Runners are set to take over the capital this weekend for The Big Half 2023. The 13-mile half marathon will see participants run from central across the city into Greenwich.

The Big Half is back in London for another year. The 2023 edition will mark the sixth annual edition of the event.

Aimed to have its participants represent London’s diverse population, it offers locals a chance to get active and see more of the city they call home by foot.

The 2022 instalment of the event saw more than 12,500 participants join in. This year’s event is expected to be even bigger as the capital will welcome around 15,000 runners.

Here’s everything those taking on the Big Half Marathon in the capital need to know.

Arrival times for the London Big Half marathon 

Participants will need to arrive at different times depending on the wave letter assigned to them on their race bib. The full list of arrival times for A-J are listed below:

  • A - 7.45am 
  • B - 7.55am 
  • C - 8.05am
  • D - 8.15am
  • E - 8.25am 
  • F - 8.35am
  • G - 8.45am 
  • H - 8.55am
  • I - 9.05am

Start times for the London Big Half marathon 

As with the recommended arrival times, race start times will also differ depending on the participant’s wave number. Here’s the full list of wave times.

  • A - 8.30am 
  • B - 8.40am 
  • C - 8.50am
  • D - 9am
  • E - 9.10am 
  • F - 9.20am
  • G - 9.30am 
  • H - 9.40am
  • I - 9.50am
  • J - 10am 

Nearest station to the London Big Half marathon 

Participants race bibs will also indicate which entrance they will have to arrive at for their race. This is shown by either an S or N at the start of their large race number.

If you have an S on your bib, you will need to go to the South assembly area, which is located on Tooley Street. The nearest underground station to London Bridge.

Alternatively, those with an N on their bib will need to head to the North assembly area, which is located on Tower Hill. The nearest tube station to the North assembly is Tower Hill.

Weather forecast for the London Big Half marathon

Clouds are expected to line the skies of the capital this weekend. However, despite the cloudy weather, it’s not forecast to rain on the day of the Big Half marathon, according to the Met Office.
