Allowing Londoners to see the city in a new light, these three summer walks take in many of the capital’s most iconic landmarks.

Londoners can be a tourist in their own city while taking in some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks by choosing to travel on foot this summer. While the capital boasts good transport links, many classic landmarks are just a short walk away from each other.

If you call London home, some of its most iconic landmarks will undoubtedly be a familiar sight. But apart from catching a glimpse of them from the window of a bus or train, you may not have seen all of them up close.

Those who do end up making the trek around the city will be rewarded for their efforts with more leisurely views of some of London’s most recognisable locations. Slowing down to fully appreciate the scenery on your doorstep might even offer the opportunity to enjoy a different side to the  the city you’ve not noticed before.

The O2 Arena and Kew Gardens are just some of the landmarks locals could stroll by on a journey across the city. From walks through central to strolls along the Thames, London World has you covered.

Here’s three walks locals can take around the city this summer.

Jubilee Greenway 

Starting out at Buckingham Palace, the 37.2-mile route offers views of some of the city’s most popular spots before ending at Limehouse Basin. The walk was introduced amid the late Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, with each km of the route representing her then 60-year reign. The full route can be found on the TFL website.

Thames Path

London’s famous River Thames also offers a peek at many of the city’s notable landmarks as well as its iconic skyline. Walking along the 79.5-mile stretch shows the city’s bustling Southbank as well as the quaint Battersea Park. The full route can be found on the TFL website.

Jubilee walkway 

Those wanting a shorter walk but not wanting to miss out on some of the city’s most memorable beacons can take the Jubilee walkway. At 15 miles, city dwellers will still be able to get up close to some of the capital’s renowned landmarks as well as getting their steps in. The full route can be found on the TFL website.
