Watch: First look at Southbank Centre's magical winter lights 2025

London’s South Bank has once again been lit up with an array of light art works for locals and visitors to explore.

Southbank Centre’s winter lights trail is back for another year. Open from now until February 2 outside the riverside venue and the surrounding area are an array of artworks to discover.

There are 12 illuminations in total featuring familiar installations from past years as well as newer displays. A map showing where each is located is available on the Southbank Centre website.

The Winter Lights are a popular attraction in London, which aims to bring a bit of joy and sparkle to the bleak winter months after the comedown from Christmas.

Canary Wharf and Battersea Power Station also have winter light trails for Londoners to explore.

We visited the Winter Lights last night after getting a sneak peek at the set-up for the A Complete Unknown premiere, that was held at BFI Southbank.

There are a variety of light installations sparkling along South Bank, making it the perfect spot for a winter walk with friends or family.

We suggest taking a date there for a romantic stroll, before dipping into one of the nearby pubs for a glass of wine. We’re all for snogging in front of twinkling lights.
