Prison Island brings 'criminally good' escape room to London

Escape room enthusiasts are going to love this new London adventure featuring 31 cells and a whole host of menacing puzzles to solve.

London’s entertainment scene is no stranger to escape rooms, but a new concept is about to shake things up at Hornsey Street.

Launching 25th September, Prison Island blends puzzles, sports and physical challenges into one fast-paced experience with more than 30 “cells” that put skill, speed, and teamwork to the test.

Groups of two to five players are given 60 minutes to complete as many rooms as they can, collecting points along the way.

Unlike a traditional escape room that revolves around cracking a single code or story, Prison Island lets players choose their own path.

Each cell has a unique theme, with some focusing on strategy and communication, while others demand quick reflexes and sharp problem-solving under pressure.

The cells vary in difficulty and can be tackled in any order and repeated as many times as the team wants, meaning no two visits feel the same.

With the venue designed for visitors aged seven and up, Prison Island becomes one of the few action-led escape experiences in the city suitable for both children and adults.

The concept has already proved popular in Scandinavia, with Hornsey Street just being the latest stop to bring the format to Londoners looking for something different to do together.

Mikael Bouteillon, who leads the London site, explains that the aim is to “bring people together through play and create an unforgettable experience” with a challenge. The project is delivered by MAKE IT NOW, a French leisure company with international experience, and co-produced by global live entertainment platform Fever.

The venue will be open Tuesday to Thursday from 2pm until 8pm, Fridays until 9.30pm, Saturdays from 10am until 9.30pm and Sundays until 6pm.

Prison Island London opens at 5–7 Hornsey Street, N7 8GA.For more information about the venue and booking details, visit: prisonislandexperience.com/london
