Today, April 8, is one of the biggest astronomy events of the year as some people across the UK will be able to see a partial solar eclipse. However it won’t be visible to everyone.

Tonight some around the country will be able to see part of the eclipse. The spectacle will happen as the moon passes between both the sun and earth.

The celestial event will only be visible in parts of the UK via a narrow path that also passes through America.

Here’s where the 2024 partial solar eclipse will be visible in the UK.

Will the 2024 partial solar eclipse be visible in London?

Unfortunately not. The rare celestial event will not be visible from the capital. However, locals across Wales, Scotland, and the west of the country may be able to see it. Londoners can still watch it online via NASA’s live stream event on YouTube.

Those able to witness it in person should note that looking at a solar eclipse directly can cause eye damage. The celestial event can be safely watched by using either a certified safety filter or certified solar eclipse glasses.
