The first episode will feature Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington.

He will explore his grandparents’ experiences during World War II. In the episode, he discovers that his grandfather, John Harington was recruited by naval intelligence in 1941, four years before the war ended.

There’s a big surprise in store as he discovers he was sent to Jamaica, where one of his colleagues was Ian Fleming, who, after the war, would go on to create James Bond.

On the show, and his grandfather, Kit says: “This was before Fleming wrote the Bond novels and he’d have met all sorts of people in the service.”

“Fleming went to Jamaica and most likely would have met my grandfather, so, in a really roundabout way, John Harington might have inspired Bond.”

It will be an insightful journey for Harrington, as his grandfather was reluctant to talk about his past.

“He lost some of his closest friends. He didn’t want to talk about what happened. He didn’t even want to acknowledge that he’d won a medal. He just wanted to move on.”

Who is Kit Harington?
