Michael Gambon, who grew up in Camden, has died aged 82.

Dumbledore actor Michael Gambon, who played the Hogwarts headmaster in several of the Harry Potter films, has died, aged 82. In honour of the beloved actor, LondonWorld has rounded up some of his red-carpet appearances in the capital.

The Dublin-born actor who grew up in Camden went on to begin his career in London as one of the original members of Laurence Olivier’s National Theatre acting company.

Over his more than 50-year career on screen, the BAFTA award-winning actor established himself as a staple on screen well before his memorable portrayal of Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films. The late actor starred in six of the eight movies.
