The Green flag awards, celebrate some of the UK’s best green spaces - but where are the most popular parks in London?

Many of London’s iconic greenspaces have been certified by The Green flag over the years including the famous Hampstead Heath and Hyde Park.

The organisation has also highlighted Battersea Park on its list claiming it is “the jewel in the crown of London's parks” and “No other park in the capital offers so much to see, do and enjoy.”

But what are the most popular parks with city locals? Do Londoners enjoy just going for a walk in a park nearby or would they ever head to another part of London to make the most of our other green spaces?

Philip, a Crystal Palace local, said: “I’m biassed, I’ve started walking around Crystal Palace Park pretty much every day. It’s become a big part of my day and seeing the landscape change through the seasons.

“It’s got lovely things for my son, he can play in the maze, I can go with my laptop, and see gigs there,” he added.

Megan, originally from Ireland now lives in south London too. She said: “I go to Brockwell Park all the time, I love Brockwell.”

She continued: “Hampstead Heath? That counts as a park doesn’t it? I’d get on the train to go there and go swimming in the ponds.”
