London Marathon 2025: Start and finish times, including cut-off point for runners
The 2025 London Marathon is almost here, and whether you’re watching in person or are in the city on the day, here’s when it will start and end.
From amateur runners to Olympic athletes, the annual event will see people of all abilities join in on the city run this Sunday, April 27.

Hide AdWhile seasoned runners can compete in the elite races, the mass event also offers a chance for beginner marathoners to don their running shoes.
Here’s the full timings for the London Marathon 2025 races, including when the elite and mass events are scheduled to start, when they are expected to finish and whether there is a cut-off time for participants.
Full London Marathon 2025 start times, including Mass and Elite races
- 8.50am - Elite wheelchair races
- 9.05am - Elite women’s race
- 9.35am - Elite men’s race
- 9.35am - 11.30am - Mass race
When does the 2025 London Marathon finish?
The first to cross the London Marathon finish line will be the Elite wheelchair participants. Based on the top racers from last year’s event, supporters at the finish line can expect to see participants cross from around 10.20am.
Next will be the elite runners with the female runners set to reach the finish line from around 11.20am with the male runners following around 11.40am.

Hide AdMass participants are also expected to start reaching the finish line slightly later from around 11.50am.
There is no official end time for the marathon but participants have eight hours to finish after setting off from the start.
Is there a cut of time for the 2025 London Marathon runners must finish by?
Yes, participants have eight hours to complete the 26.2 mile course. This is timed from the moment they cross the start line. Therefore if you started at 9.35am, your cut off would be 5.35pm.
Participants can still finish if they wish to do so after this time but they may be asked to move to the pavement for safety reasons.
