The London Marathon took over the capital today as thousands of participants pounded the pavements to complete the 26.2 mile course across the city. Here’s everything you need to know about those who crossed the finish line first.

This weekend saw the annual race return to its usual spring slot after the coronavirus pandemic caused the event to be postponed over the past three years. From 2020 to 2022, the event took place over the autumn months.

The 2023 edition marks the 43rd running of the famous marathon in London. This year is said to have been one of the largest marathons in the capital yet, as around 45,000 runners are said to have taken part in the mass race.

As part of the festivities, 2022 Elite winner Yalemzerf Yehualaw returned to the event and placed a respectable fifth place in the women’s race. Great Britain’s beloved Olympic champion, Mo Farah, was also running what could be his last London Marathon. He just made the top 10 runners in the men’s race as he placed ninth.
