London latest snow forecast: Will there be more in the city this week?

London’s new year cold snap doesn’t look like it’s bringing full blown snowfall just yet.

While temperatures in the capital have taken a sharp dip, slipping below zero, London is set to remain snow free for the time being.

Parts of the city saw their first few snowflakes of 2026 last week as the new year got underway.

Since then, temperatures have stayed stubbornly icy, plunging to a chilly -3°C overnight in some areas.

Despite the freezing conditions, there’s no forecast for further snowfall in London this week.

According to the latest BBC Weather outlook, the capital is actually set to enjoy a break from the cold, with temperatures rising to around 10°C by the end of the week.

As things warm up, Londoners can expect some sunny spells, before wetter weather moves in towards the weekend.

London may be spared the snow for now, but winter is biting much harder elsewhere.

The Met Office rolled out several yellow warnings for snow and ice on Monday (January 5), but the capital and much of the south avoided being placed under alert.

The warnings, in place from Sunday evening (January 4) until tomorrow (January 6), caution that icy and snowy conditions could lead to travel disruption and difficult conditions in affected regions.
