The city’s southbank is set to glow purple tonight (October 10) as the iconic London Eye lights up for World Mental Health Day.

Taking place every year on 10 October, World Mental Health Day aims to highlight the importance of good mental health and the need to prioritise and invest in it.

The colour purple in particular has become a symbolic colour for the day known for its calming and soothing effect on the brain.

Each year has a different theme to inspire change and for 2025 the theme is access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies.

London’s famous wheel landmark has long honoured the day with its purple light up event having become a yearly tradition.

In 2016, the attraction even hosted Prince William, Prince Harry, and the then Duchess of Cambridge for discussions to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health.
