It also boasts one of the world’s greatest cuisines and cultural scenes. For those who haven’t had the chance to visit, a taste of Tokyo is coming right to your doorstep this summer.

For one weekend only, the UK’s largest Japanese festival will come to Olympia London with over 300 exhibitors that will showcase the very best that Japan has to offer.

Here is everything you need to know about the Hyper Japan Festival.

When is the Hyper Japan Festival?

The Hyper Japan Festival is on from Friday July 21 to Sunday July 23 at Olympia London in Kensington.

What is Hyper Japan?

Hyper Japan is an annual exhibition that celebrates Japanese culture, fashion, and entertainment. The event features a range of activities and exhibits, including Japanese food, anime, manga, sake tasting, traditional arts and crafts, and technology.

It also showcases a variety of performances, such as live music, dance, and fashion shows,  the opportunity to try out Japanese video games and cosplay.

It has been running since 2010 and has become the UK’s largest Japanese Culture event.

Who is performing this year?

This year’s festival will include performances from electronic dance music duo FEMM, cosplay actor and musician Miura Ayme and singer songwriter Mika Kobayashi.

Other acts include RIN-PA, a girls samurai sword performance team, Yuko Tsubame, a London-based singer and musician and Rinch, the world’s first musical manga.

What is the Sake Experience?

New for 2023, the Sake Experience offers festival goers a chance to sample and compare 21 types of sake from 8 breweries.

These include the exquisite junmai daiginjo to the effervescent sparkling sake, from the velvety nigori (cloudy) to the vibrant nama (unpasteurized), and not forgetting the trendy yuzu and matcha liqueur.

How much do tickets cost?

A three day pass for Hyper Japan will cost you £55, while the Friday tickets cost £17.50, the Saturday pass £25 and the Sunday pass £20. Tickets can be booked online.

How do I get there?

Olympia London is right next to the Kensington (Olympia) Station. The venue is also within walking distance from West Kensington and Barons Court underground stations.
