Calling all London Hello Kitty fans - a new exhibition about the beloved character is set to open this week in the capital. 

Hello Kitty launched in 1975, and turns 50 next year. The display is in partnership with Sanrio, the Japanese entertainment company behind the figure, and will feature a games arcade for all ages as well as memorabilia of the cartoon figure.

Somerset House celebrates the beloved character as part of its upcoming Cute exhibition at its South Wing Embankment Galleries. 

As well as honouring the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty in the display, the exhibition will explore the concept of cuteness in contemporary culture, from emojis to plush toys.

Hello Kitty fans wanting to check out Somerset House's Cute exhibition can head to Temple, which is the nearest underground station to the art centre.

When does the London Hello Kitty Exhibition open? 

The Cute exhibition at Somerset House, which will feature an array of Hello Kitty displays, is set to open this Thursday (January 25).

Do I need a ticket to enter the London Hello Kitty Exhibition?

Yes, the Somerset House exhibition is a ticketed display. Hello Kitty fans can get a ticket on the art centre's website, where they will have to book a time slot they wish to visit.

Tickets prices start from £18.50. Individuals aged 25 or under could visit for half price on select days including February 13, 20 and 27 and March 05, 12, 19 and 26. Family bookings will receive a 10% discount at checkout.
