One of the biggest pub chains in the UK, Greene King, is offering 6p pints as they kick off the Jubilee celebrations early.

Pints of IPA beer will be available for pub-goers to buy for just one day only as celebrations for the Queen’s Jubilee are just days away.

This offer is available for just one pint, but it’s still a great offer for those who may enjoy a quick one after work, or a relaxing day with friends or loved ones.

Why are Greene King running this offer?

As said, this offer is part of the Jubilee celebrations that get underway on Thursday, June 2. Greene King is to pull pints at the ridiculously low price of 6p as that was the average price of a pint in 1952, the year of the Queen’s coronation.

Andrew Gallagher, marketing director at Greene King Local Pubs, said: “The platinum jubilee is a fantastic way for the UK to come together and celebrate our Queen and country, so we wanted to take our customers back to where it all began – 1952, a time when Vera Lynn ruled the charts and pints were only 6p.

“Some of our regulars may even remember watching the coronation back in 1952, although they may have been too young to enjoy a pint then.

“We can’t wait to see our customers enjoy this royally good deal on Monday 30 May, and look forward to celebrating the platinum jubilee in all our pubs across the bank holiday weekend.”

Why were they changed from 6p to free?

The offer was intially for 6p, but now Greene King are now giving away the pints for free as they are not permitted to offer pints at that price under licensing laws.

How can you order the 6p pint?

Anyone visiting a Greene King Local Pub or a Flaming Grill site will be able to claim a pint of Greene King’s IPA for just IPA by using the secret code word “1952” at the bar.
