Great British Bake Off 2022: Contestants announced for Channel 4 show including five Londoners - full lineup

Just days after the return date for the Great British Bake Off was announced, the lineup has been confirmed with five contestants set to represent London.

In a tweet sent from the official Bake Off twitter, they said: “Say hello to the class of 2022.”

The show will once again see Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood critique the bakers skills, whilst Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding will resume their roles as hosts.

When does the Great British Bake Off 2022 start?

The 13th season of the popular show, which moved from BBC to Channel 4 some years ago will be back on screens on 13 September 2022.

The show will air on Channel 4 at 8pm and will be shown weekly.

Who are the London contestants taking part in the show?

Abdul - 29 - Electronics Engineer

Abdul is a keen salsa dancer and has confessed he is a ‘space nerd’. He began to dabble into baking when he and his graduate colleagues baked for each other to brighten up their daily coffee breaks.

Maxy - 29 - Architectural assistant

Maxy began baking around five years ago after the birth of her daughter, and she uses her strong artistic skills to bring her bakes to life. She had a Scandinavian upbringing, and most of the stuff she bakes is a nod to her heritage.

Sandro - 30 - Nanny

When Sandro was 21 his father passed away and he turned to baking as a form of therapy, igniting a passion within him. Fast forward nine years and he can be found baking with TV in the background or running virtual baking classes for children with autism.

Syabira - 32 - Cardiovascular Research Associate

Hailing from Malaysia, Syabira’s baking journey only began back in 2017, where she started to bake a simple red velvet cake to share with her friends back home. She now practises putting a Malaysian twist on classic British delicacies.

Will - 45 - Former Charity Director

His passion for baking started when he was two years old, when his mother would hand him pastry trimmings and turn them into jam tarts. He is now more focused on the technical side of baking.
