Free London music showcase brings fresh R&B, Pop, and Rap to Hackney
This one-night event promises an energetic mix of genres as young artists offer audiences a glimpse into the future of London’s sound.
Despite being a restaurant by day, Carbobar will be hosting a night dedicated to rising talent as seven of London’s most exciting new artists take to the stage for a free multi-genre show.

Running from 5pm to 10pm on 30th November, the event brings together performers working across alternative R&B, new-age rap and pop, each offering their own take on the city’s evolving sound.
The night has been curated by London-based alternative electro-R&B artist Jae, who cites the likes of Frank Ocean and KWN as her main influences, as well as lofi R&B artist Trya.

She describes the lineup as a group of artists who are “trying to make changes in the musical scene,” explaining that each performer approaches R&B in a distinct way.”
Audiences can expect sounds ranging from electronic-leaning experimentation to the neo-soul stylings of opening act Chizzy as well as the rest of the roster, including: Roper, Tia, Milly, Nayff, Enila, Alexia and Jae.
Despite its tongue-in-cheek title, THIS IS NOT A LISTENING PARTY is designed as a purposeful gathering of “musical excellence” rather than a promotional event.
Jae said: “[I] created the night not only to highlight new music, but also to build a sense of community among emerging artists.

“I want to organise a sort of networking opportunity to help other upcoming artists at any level to meet people that they can inspire or are inspired by.”
The idea began as an offhand suggestion from a friend when Jae was preparing to release her single Childish Tendencies. “This event was very spontaneous,” she says.
“It was a passing suggestion… because I wanted to showcase more than just my own work, I thought that it would be quite cool if I invited other upcoming artists to capitalise off of this moment.”
For the audience, the appeal is clear.

Jae added: “There is going to be a range of music from multiple upcoming artists like myself looking to connect with new people and build their fan base,” she explains.
“I’m excited to be around so much young potential and to learn from others on the same journey as me.”
Jae is also looking forward to her own set, where she plans to perform unreleased material and use the event as a chance for her to be vulnerable and share her music directly with close friends and family.
Entry is free, and tickets are available here.
