How Londoners can get a free 'creepy crawly' ice-cream topped with edible insects

On the 8th April, Clapham locals can enjoy mealworm swirls and critter fudge crumble ice creams completely for free.

Next week, lucky(?) Londoners will be able to get their hands on a free ice-cream - but there’s a twist.

Instead of being topped with sprinkles and chocolate sauce, this ice cream is topped with edible insects from crickets to mealworms. Yummm...

The strange pop-up is being launched to celebrate 100 years of Rentokil Pest Control. The I Scream Van will be offering Clapham locals free edible-insect ice-creams in a variety of flavours.

What’s on the menu?

There are six scream-worthy flavours, each containing a bugged-out blend of sweet and savoury insect ingredients:

    • Milk Chocolate Cricketto – Belgian milk chocolate-covered crickets
    • Dark Chocolate Cricketto – Belgian dark chocolate-covered crickets
    • White Chocolate Cricketto – Belgian white chocolate-covered crickets
    • Mealworm Swirl –Dried, crunchy mealworms
    • Critter Fudge Crumble – Vanilla and buffalo worm fudge pieces
    • 99+1 – The R100 Pestival Cone – A trio of toppings, including plain mealworms, fudge crumble, and a choice of one of the Belgian chocolate-covered cricket options

If you decide to try this, please can you send us photos and a review? I’ve got to know what a Critter Fudge Crumble tastes like.

Taste the thrill and embrace these extraordinary edible creepy crawly one-of-a-kind ice-creams. Rentokil Pest Control’s I Scream Van will kick off its centenary celebration nationwide tour from 20 Northcote Road in Clapham on Tuesday, 8th April from 12:30-3:30pm.
