Donutelier: We went behind-the-scenes of London's fanciest doughnut shop
It’s home to London’s most luxurious doughnuts stuffed with chocolate and fresh cream
London’s premiere doughnut shop, Donutelier gave us an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at its Carnaby Street store - and even let us sample some of the goods.
We were lucky enough to watch master dounutiers (real word, don’t come for me) create delicious masterpieces that included the Praline Bobo cookies, decorated with crunchy caramelised hazelnuts.
During the tour, we passed several ovens and racks of treats cooling before getting to the main prep section - where the creations are really brought to life.
I loved watching the bakers pipe the ganache on top of the pistachio doughnut, and I was truly in awe of how they made each of them perfectly so quickly. Paul Hollywood would be impressed!
Donutelier has two locations in the capital, with its other store found right by Leicester Square. While visitors will have a similar selection to choose from at both stores, the Carnaby spot has its own unique creation, the caramel toffee pudding.
Of course, we couldn't leave empty-handed and got to take home the Carnaby exclusive as well as a few others, including its best seller, Rochers Gianduja, which is inspired by the Ferrero Rocher chocolate. I was also able to try the pistachio one, which caught my eye during the tour.
With most of the offerings priced around the £6 mark, it may sound a bit steep, but when you account for the time and patience that go into handcrafting each of them, you can’t really fault it.
The treats are pretty, delicious, messy to eat and full of flavour - plus they look great on the ‘gram. Get yourself down there and indulge!
