Crafters flock to King's Cross to celebrate Shaun the Sheep's 30th Birthday
Aardman marked 30 years of Shaun the Sheep with a community crafting event in King’s Cross, as London knitters came together to create blankets for people experiencing homelessness.
Crafters from across the capital flocked to King’s Cross yesterday for the woolliest birthday bash in town, as Aardman marked Shaun the Sheep’s 30th anniversary with a heartwarming community event.

The celebration, held at The Mills Fabrica, was the finale of the global Can Ewe Knit It? campaign - a collaboration between Aardman, British Wool, Campaign for Wool, and Craft Forward.
Dozens of knitters and crocheters came together to piece hundreds of handmade squares sent from around the world into cosy blankets for people experiencing homelessness in London.

All the wool used was 100% British, donated by West Yorkshire Spinners, giving the project a distinctly homegrown touch.
Emily Jones, Brand and Insights Manager at Aardman, said: “Shaun’s always been about bringing people together – and this project has done just that. Seeing fans, families, and crafters uniting to make something that will genuinely help others is the perfect way to celebrate 30 years of our woolly hero.”

Craft Forward Director Elena Lo Presti added: “Our workshops allow communities to take action and use their skills to make a positive change, and we did just that with this event. Every square knitted or crocheted today will be stitched into a blanket that will bring warmth and dignity to people who need it most.”
The finished blankets will now be distributed through Craft Forward’s Blankets for London project, which has already provided hundreds of handmade blankets to unhoused people across the city.
