Buckingham Palace Christmas Market 2025: This is how the rumour started and what's actually happening

Buckingham Palace won’t be hosting a Christmas market this festive season - but here’s why people thought there would be.

Festive fans were left confused this week after it was shared that Buckingham Palace would host a Christmas market.

The mix-up appears to have begun online this week, following confirmation that the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace would host a Christmas pop-up shop.

As explained on the Royal Collection Trust website, the Christmas opening will see the 200-year-old stables transformed into a festive boutique.

From November 14 to January 5, Londoners will be able to pop by to shop for official royal gifts.

There will also be seasonal drinks and nibbles on offer, with the spot also set to host a full-size advent calendar that will display new products, limited editions, exclusive treats and collector’s items each day.

A further post by London Travellers on Instagram featured what appears to be an edited picture of a Christmas market on the grounds of Buckingham Palace, along with details of its opening.

However, to clarify, there will not be a Christmas market at Buckingham Palace.

In a joint post on Instagram by the Buckingham Palace Shop and Royal Collection Trust accounts, a statement clarifying this was shared on Wednesday (September 24).

It explained: “Please note that the Royal Mews Christmas Shop is a pop-up shop selling Royal Collection Trust festive products within the existing Royal Mews shop space, and is not a Christmas market. There will not be a Christmas market at Buckingham Palace.”
