London is set to look a lot more festive, as two more famous locations in the capital are set to turn their Christmas lights on. This comes just days after Oxford Street kicked off the festive season in style.

Halloween and Bonfire Night have now come and gone, with everyone turning their attention to Christmas. Unlike most other holidays in the UK, people celebrate and prepare for Christmas weeks before it arrives.

According to a YouGov study in 2020, nine out of ten Brits celebrate Christmas, making it one of the most popular holidays. And, a Christmas light turn on is always a great way to mark the festive season.

As mentioned, Oxford Street has already turned their Christmas lights on. They’re still the eye-dazzling display that we’re used to seeing, but have a much smaller carbon footprint.

This is because the stars used in the display are made from around 300,000 LED light bulbs made from recycled polymer. This is a huge boon for sustainability, as they are 75% more efficient than standard light bulbs.

But, with more of London set to light up, when are the Bond Street and Mayfair Christmas lights set to turn on?

When are the Mayfair Christmas lights going to be turned on?

It will be Mayfair’s Mount Street that will be illuminated, with their lights being switched on soon, on Thursday, 17 November at 6.30pm. Their lights will feature 63,000 energy-efficient sparkling lights which will feature big blue blows running up and down the street to create that Christmas feel.
