The Netflix show has taken over a billboard in the capital in promotion of its latest series.

A familiar London billboard has been at the centre of Black Mirror’s promotion for its latest series. Fans have recognised its location as the show’s Twitter showcased its latest marketing campaign using the large advertising screen in the city.

This week, billboards up and down the country have featured the faces of Black Mirror fans in a tie-in promotion inspired by the show’s season six opener titled Joan Is Awful. Those who have already watched the episode will know that it follows a woman named Joan who discovers her life has been adapted as a TV series on the fictional streaming platform Streamberry.

To coincide with the series six episode, fans were invited to make their own inspired poster on the You Are Awful website. On the page, viewers can become the focus of their own series that includes their name along with ‘Is Awful’ in the title.

During the process of making the poster, fans are asked to give their consent to the use of their photo for marketing, with the warning also seen to hint it may even be used on a billboard. The Black Mirror Twitter page has since featured pictures of some fans on billboards across the UK, including London.

Now some eagle-eyed viewers of the show have recognised the location of the billboard to be in Stratford, specifically the stairs leading up to the area’s popular shopping centre Westfield. Responding to one post, a user wrote: "Is that in Stratford?" while another added: "why is that Westfield Stratford."

A more recent tweet from the Black Mirror Twitter account showed a different view of the billboard, which features the iconic Stratford Shoal art installation as well as a railing which has Westfield written across it.
