BBC Celebrity MasterChef 2022: Who is Under The Skin actor Adam Pearson, how to watch and full line-up

Much loved BBC show Celebrity Masterchef is back, with many contestants set to represent London.

This year’s BBC series will see the likes of actor Richard Blackwood, ex football player Jimmy Bullard and more show off their culinary skills at various baking challenges which unfold in the infamous Masterchef kitchen.

One celebrity confirmed in the lineup is actor Adam Pearson, who was born in London.

When the lineup was announced in mid-July, Pearson took to twitter to speak about the show.

He said: “Well the news is out I am sharpening my knives taking part in Masterchef UK.

“Will Gregg Wallace and John Torode like my food? Who knows!

“Can I even cook? Who cares!

“Never heard of me? Shut up!”

Who is Adam Pearson?

Adam Pearson is an award winning disability rights campaigner, actor, presenter and speaker, who has worked alongside the likes of Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson.

He lives with Neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition that causes excess body tissue to grow on nerve endings, causing non-cancerous tumours to occur. These can appear anywhere on the human body.

Prior to his TV breakthrough, Adam worked as a researcher for both the BBC and Channel 4, before becoming presenter on the first series of Beauty & The Beast: The Ugly Face Of Prejudice which was aired on Channel 4.

Over the years, he has become a well known figure on TV, appearing on a number of shows such as Question Time (BBC One), Celebrity Mastermind (BBC One), Pointless Celebrities (BBC One), Celebrity Eggheads (BBC Two), Breakfast (BBC One), Songs Of Praise (BBC One), Sunday Morning Live (BBC One), Newsnight (BBC Two), Loose Women (ITV), Lorraine (ITV), This Morning (ITV) and Front Row (BBC Radio 4).

His work on TV hasn’t overshadowed his work as a campaigner, however, with Pearson picking up many accolades for his campaigning work such as a RADAR and Diana Award, with Adam also being named in The Shaw Trust Power 100 List of 2020 – a list of the UK’s most influential disabled people.

Adam Pearson was born on 6 January, 1985 in London and attended Brighton university.
