"I feel like the world is heavy at the minute and we need to come together and have joy."

Jess Glynne gave an intimate performance for friends and family at Camden's Hawley Arms on Tuesday (October 24). The pub is famous for its association with another north London singer, Amy Winehouse.

The upstairs bar was packed with friends and family - including sports presenter and former England footballer Alex Scott.

The singer, who is from a Jewish family, grew up in Hampstead and was raised in Muswell Hill, attending Rhodes Avenue Primary School and Fortismere School. This year she has returned with new music and on stage she was visibly moved to be sharing a moment with people who have supported her through the years.

"I'm very grateful to be standing on this stage and singing," she told the crowd. "I feel like I wanted to do this tonight because, firstly, I grew up around here and I had the most fun of my life growing up around here.

"I feel like the world is heavy at the minute and we need to come together and have joy. I got my family here, I got my friends here and I got all of you lot here. I'm glad that you guys are here to be a part of this journey. This is just the start of this album, I guess. It's coming."
