The British Soap Awards 2023 was aired on ITV last night and has got television fans' tongues wagging.

EastEnders won Best Soap this year and Villain Of The Year was scooped up by Aaron Thiara, who plays Ravi Gulati in the show. Lillia Turner, who plays Lily Slater, was named Best Young Performer.

Coronation street dominated at the ceremony, which took place on Saturday, with wins for the Platts (Best Family), Charlotte Jordan as Daisy Midgeley (Best Dramatic Performance), Maureen Lipman as Evelyn Plummer (Best Comedy Performance), Channique Sterling-Brown as Dee-Dee Bailey (Best Newcomer) and Acid Attack (Best Single Episode, Scene of the Year).

Incel Eric Targets Mason And Maxine, from Hollyoaks, won Best Storyline.

Best On-Screen Partnership went to Chris Walker and Jan Pearson as Rob and Karen Hollins in Doctors.

The awards ceremony was hosted by Jane McDonald, replacing former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield after the recent scandal.

A lot of attention went to smouldering villain Aaron Thiara, outfitted in a peach and beige suit.

A tearful tribute was paid to former host Paul O'Grady, who died earlier this year, aged 67.
