After the conclusion of Roland Garros 2022 - also referred to as the French Open - attention has switched to the WimbledonTennis Championships, which some consider the biggest event on the tennis calendar.

Rafael Nadal showed why he is referred to as the ‘King of Clay’ as he won Rolland Garros (French Open) 2022 beating Norway’s Casper Ruud in straight sets but did suffer a foot injury that could see him out of Wimbledon.

Novak Djokovic is the current Wimbledon holder after beating Matteo Berrettini three sets to one in 2021.

When is Wimbledon 2022?

Wimbledon 2022 starts on Monday, 27 June.

The ladies final will be on 9 July and the men’s final will signal the end of the championships for another year on Sunday, 10 July 2022.

What is the prize money for the winners?

This year, the total prize money for Wimbledon 2022 is a record, the All England Lawn Tennis Club has announced. The total prize money will total £40,350,000

Men & women’s winners prize money: £2 million

Men’s & Women’s Doubles: £540,000

Who are the favourites to win?

After his Rolland Garros triumph, Rafael Nadal will be up there to win, as will defending champion Novak Djokovic, however beaten finalist in 2021, Matteo Berrettini will be looking to make the latter stages.

In the women’s section Emma Raducanu will hope to end her whirlwind two years and become the first female Wimbledon champion in the UK since Virginia Wade won in 1977.
