Over 48,000 runners took the streets of the capital on Sunday as the 2023 London Marathon took place.
The elite races produced some stunning performances as Kenyan star Kelvin Kiptum claimed the men’s race with the second-fastest time ever, breaking the tape with in two hours, one minute and 25 seconds. Dutch Olympic champion Sifan Hassan took the honours in the women’s race despite suffering with a hip injury and Switzerland’s Marcel Hug and Australia’s Madison de Rozario won the men’s and women’s wheelchair races respectively.
As is always the way in with the London Marathon, a whole host of celebrity figures took part and there were some runners wearing eye-catching fancy dress costumes showing their support for charities around the world.
