West Ham are set to welcome Brentford in the latest gameweek of the Premier League. It will be the final game of the year for both teams, who have endured a poor season by all accounts.

The last game would have also been disappointing for both teams. West Ham went into halftime against table toppers Arsenal leading, but lost the game 3-1 due to goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah.

Meanwhile, the Hammers’ upcoming opponents Brentford, who are set to play their second Londonderby in a row were leading 2-0 against Tottenham before goals from Harry Kane and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg salvaged a draw for Spurs.

It will be a game that both sides will view as winnable after a fairly poor run of form for both sides. It was a season that promised a lot for West Ham after they secured European Football, but the side currently sit 16th.

Brentford were also aiming for a similar feat despite this season being just their second in the Premier League. They demolished Manchester United 4-0 back in August, but are now sitting in 10th.
