West Ham United v Manchester United team news with 7 out and 3 doubts for Premier League clash

West Ham United welcome Manchester United to the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon

West Ham United and Manchester United come to blows in the Premier League on Sunday with both managers under pressure after an indifferent start to their respective seasons.

The Irons have won just two of their opening eight Premier League fixtures and lost 4-1 at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. For the Red Devils, they have won just one more game and sit three points above the Hammers heading into the clash. Speaking ahead of the fixture, West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui called for more consistency from his side and insisted pressure is a part of the job for Premier League managers.

“I think that all the coaches are always under pressure – sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the last matches,” said the Spaniard. “I am not going to talk about one colleague or another club. I can talk about me and we are going to play against a very big team. Manchester United is one of the best teams in the world and we have to be ready to face them, and we have to be ready to do well, to play well, to work hard, to be able to beat them. That is going to be our aim.”

Ahead of the game, both sides have selection concerns - although the visitors’ absentee list is a lengthy one compared to the Hammers.

West Ham United injury latest

Mohamed Kudus will serve the first of a three-game suspension after being sent off against Tottenham Hotspur last week for violent conduct. Lopetegui said: "Unfortunately, Kudus is going to be out for three matches because his behaviour was not good, and he knows that. It's a pity because he did a good match and could have scored two goals. He knows he has to improve his temperament because this can't happen."

The Hammers’ only other concern is summer signing Niclas Fullkrug, who hasn’t featured since August due to a calf problem he picked up on international duty with Germany. Is unlikely to return against the Red Devils.

Out: Kudus. Doubt: Fullkrug.

Manchester United injury latest

Ten Hag’s side head to London following a 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday night. Bruno Fernandes missed that game through suspension but will be back to face West Ham. Jonny Evans was left out of the squad that travelled to Turkey because of injury and Ten Hag said he would “hopefully” have the central defender available again.

Winger Antony is unlikely to feature after being carried off on a stretcher at the Ulker Stadium after going down unchallenged. Meanwhile, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount are all set to remain out. The former trio have yet to play this campaign.

Out: Malacia, Shaw, Yoro, Maguire, Mainoo, Mount. Doubts: Evans, Antony.
