West Ham £132m summer signings rated including 'anonymous' 3/10 as Julen Lopetegui struggles

Julen Lopetegui was backed with money by West Ham this summer, but hasn’t found the results to match so far.

West Ham put up little fight as high-flying Nottingham Forest put three past the London club when the two teams met at The City Ground on Saturday afternoon.

That result adds more pressure on new boss Julen Lopetegui, who has endured a tough start to life at the Hammers having replaced David Moyes this summer. 11 points from the opening 10 league fixtures is made all the more underwhelming after a summer shopping spree that totalled to more than £130 million of spending.

LondonWorld looks at how the nine players brought in by Lopetegui have fared so far this season as the West Ham boss faces questions over his future.

Max Kilman, £40 million from Wolves - 3/10

The centre-back's rise into the first team at Wolves was impressive and he had cemented himself as a Premier League quality defender, there was no doubt about that. However, Wolves drove a very hard bargain to force £40 million out of West Ham for the 27-year-old.

His physicality and command in the air is plain to see, but the defender lacks mobility at times and is capable of an error - which has been an issue with Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos not the most nimble either. Kilman has a long way to go to warrant that lofty fee.

Crysencio Summerville, £25 million from Leeds United - 7/10

The former Leeds United winger was chased by several top flight clubs this summer having been named as the Championship Player of the Season last term. He plundered 19 goals and nine assists in the Championship last season and clearly has the qualities to be playing every week in the Premier League.

While signing him was impressive, it was therefore perhaps a strange choice for Lopetegui with Bowen and Kudus first choice on the flanks and youngster Luis Guilherme already recruited. Summerville isn't at fault for form this season with limited minutes and is perhaps the bright spark that could fire the Hammers back to form.

Niclas Fullkrug, £27 million from Borussia Dortmund - 3/10

12 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances last term pointed to a bulky striker who knew how to find the net. It's too early to judge Fullkrug, who has played just 63 Premier League minutes due to an Achilles injury. That said, his recent appearance on a German gameshow during treatment perhaps won't endear him to fans as the club's torrid time continues.

Luis Guilherme, £25 million from Palmeiras - 5/10

That was a big fee to pay for a relatively unknown 18-year-old but technical director Tim Steidten worked hard to make that move happen. The winger has, understandably, been used sparingly with just a four-minute cameo against Ipswich Town in the top flight. Certainly one for the future but perhaps Lopetegui would have been better spending that fee on the present.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, £15 million from Man Utd - 7/10

West Ham faced some criticism for signing Wan-Bissaka with Michael Owen one pundit pointing out that he may not be the best suited to an aggressive wing-back system. However, the ex Manchester United man has looked more than competent carrying the ball forward at times this season and there's no doubting that are defensive qualities there. Still, he's part of a West Ham defence that can't stop conceding and that needs to change.

Guido Rodriguez, free transfer from Real Betis - 3/10

West Ham fans keep waiting for the 30-year-old to adjust to the Premier League but that step up doesn't appear to be happening quickly. Sofascore stats suggest he didn't make a single key pass or tackle in the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. West Ham won't find any solidity with that anonymity.

Wes Foderingham, free transfer from Sheffield United - N/A

Signed as third choice and to be a presence on the training ground. Yet to make a West Ham appearance.

Jean-Clair Todibo, loan from OGC Nice - 4/10

A really exciting arrival at the London Stadium with West Ham having supposedly beaten Manchester United to sign the player. The club holds the option to make that move permanent next summer but the jury is still out. The centre-back eventually muscled his way into the starting XI but started in both the defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest, so something needs to change.

Carlos Soler, loan from PSG - 4/10

Yet to have any impact of note, and a recent Claret and Hugh report suggested that the club have already had enough with any desires to make the switch permanent already gone. That said, the 27-year-old is yet to complete more than 45 minutes in a top flight game so does seem to be lacking the backing from Lopetegui to excel.
