West Ham could fund a deal they are said to be interested in thanks to a ‘likely’ exit this summer.

West Ham could use a likely departure to fund one of their reported transfer targets this summer. We’re expecting to see plenty of change within the Hammers squad this summer, with Graham Potter likely to get chance to put his stamp on a squad he has struggled to get anything close to the best out of.

The Irons will likely recruit significantly, but they are also going to have to ease the financial burden of arrivals by sanctioning departures, and with some departures, they may be forced into decisions, with at least a couple of players likely wanting to move on due to holding higher ambitions.

Potter’s start is going to make it difficult for him to convince players that West Ham are anywhere near qualifying for Europe, and there are players who will want to be playing European football in the short-term. Mohammed Kudus is one of those players, with the winger struggling for form like many of his teammates this season.

Kudus was a sensation last term, but he hasn’t produced this season, and there are now reported he could quit the London Stadium to land a move to a club playing European football. Claret and Hugh have reported that an insider has told them: “Kudus is 99% certain to leave. West Ham want to sell, the player wants out, and clubs will want him—so it’s nailed on. He left Ajax to play in Europe. So even if you wanted to keep him, it would be hard.”

West Ham were said to have paid £38million for Kudus when they signed him from Ajax, and they would likely want to make a profit to secure a sale, meaning a likely sale of at least £40million if not significantly higher. The winger’s form this season hasn’t made it easy for the Hammers to demand a big fee if a sale is to be sought, but he is only 24 years of age, and he has already shown he can produce at Premier League level in the past.

Irons could spend Kudus money on Chelsea flop

According to The Boot Room, West Ham are interested in signing Chelsea flop Joao Felix this summer, with the attacking midfielder having failed to impress Enzo Maresca since arriving for at least £42million. The Portugal international, who never truly lived up to expectations at Atletico Madrid, either, has been on loan with AC Milan since January, making nine league appearances so far.

The report claims West ham and Wolves have expressed an interest in signing the creative midfielder this summer, with Chelsea reportedly telling Felix’s representatives to start shopping their client to other clubs ahead of the summer. Chelsea will be lucky to get £40million or more for the 25-year-old this summer, likely having to settle for something between £30million and £40million, and if West Ham are indeed interested, they could find the entire deal and have some change should they find themselves in a situation where Kudus needs to be sold, be it for financial reasons, the player wanting out or both.
